Maureen Approximately $125 at 2 stores (B&N & Borders) Christine $450... and they were worth every dollar! Sandi I give each family member a book at Christmas time, from the infants on up, so I genrally spend $200 to $300 on one shopping trip to the bookstore...and there is always more than one shopping trip! Paula Morris $150, when I intended on spending around $25. I couldn't make my mind up between a few different books and finally decided to get all of them. Then I had to wait in line, which weaved around some "clearance" books. Well, it's a good thing the line wasn't longer! Brenda Broadway The most I remember spending on books in one shopping trip was about $150.00 M. E. Kinkelaar I went to Costco to see what new audio books they had. As I was looking at one, a lady my age --- mind you, a senior citizen like me --- spoke to me. What she said seemed a little beyond my technical expertise, but I listened with great interest. She said I should go to Audible.com and sign up! She has saved so much money and listened to more up-to-date books than she could usually afford. I did what she said, and instead of spending many dollars on a new audio book, I spent over a hundred dollars for a year's worth of listening to unabridged books in a few moments. But I still keep a paperback book going on my bedside at all times. Cannot be without a book nearby in one form or another. I'm a very happy senior citizen. Books have been my constant companions for 66 years! Cathy MacDonald I buy most of my books online to get the best prices, and I will guess the most I spent was about $125. Janet Stewart Around $120 Michelle Stein $25. I don't spend much on books, because I either get them at used book stores, garage sales or at the Friends of the Library sales. Most of the time I borrow books from the public library. Bob Hartzo $40.00 Linda M. Johnson The most I can remember spending has been between $80 and $100. Lyla Douce The most I have spent at one time on books is $200. I would have spent more if I had the money. I usually buy my books by trading at the local used book store or I go to the library. I have very little disposable income to spend on books and one of the best gifts for me is a gift card for a book store. Barbara Adair $150 from three gift cards for my birthday. I spent that in one trip to the book store. I had the most wonderful time! Tammy Garcia $65.00 Scott Schneider I bought two books at auction once and spent over $533.00 Kathy Love $250.00 on reading books, not school books. Amy Baldwin Being the book-aholic I am, the most I've spent in one shopping trip is about $200. Some books were not just novels, and some were gifts, but well worth the cost. Genei Wheeler I spent about $120 on books alone at a used bookstore. Linda A Slott About $100.00 Sue Beckley $150, including a new American Heritage Dictionary! Brenda Cushman Two hundred dollars Dianne $200-$300 --- but this includes book gifts for others along with for myself. Marjorie L. Carmony I spent $300.00 in a wonderful bookstore in Scotland, and then had to figure out how to get them home. That was several years ago when traveling was not quite so difficult. Ginny Kayfes $100 while Christmas shopping. Mellena Driver $36.42 Ray Palen Over $200. There were some signed 1st editions included in that figure. Laurie Dumas $250 Lois I bought a rare book for just under $500! It was worth it! Jennifer Kirkman The most I ever spent was $75.00 at once. Linda Maxine Williams $150.00 David Rudy Around $100. Kathy Vieira I'm sure I spent around $250 in a single bookstore trip last December. With 2 children who love reading as much as I do, this was an easy holiday gift trip. Rita Dean About $75 dollars. Boy, did I have to sneak those books into the house LOL T.Semidey I spent $50.00. Dorothy Cowling $300- $400 Steve Black $191.00 in about half an hour Lori Furan-Schultz $125.00 --- It was Christmas time and I have grandchildren booklovers and grown-children booklovers.... and I probably threw in comething for myself. Peggy Maybe $25 to $30 Elizabeth D Hommert Over $200 Sandra Smith Probably about $200 --- especially when I am shopping in a bookstore in another city. I have sometimes been forced to ship the books home, and last year lost an entire box of cookbooks this way. I made it home; the books didn't. Cathy Doyle Somewhere between $250 and $300. It was around Christmas when I had some extra money, and SHOULD have been buying presents! Donna Marton It was 1976, I had gone to London by myself and was excited to explore. I found a 3-story bookstore filled with books I'd never seen in the U.S. After my purchases were tallied up, I was surprised that the amount "40 pounds" really meant $75, lol! I ate a lot of fish and chips on that trip. Ann Bowen about $150, and it wasn't for textbooks. i had been given some book cards for a store I adored and there was a list of books that I wanted for myself and my children. It was a good day in the bookstore. J. R. Monahan In a moment of complete weakness, I remember spending upwards of $250 during a trip to B&N! Kavi Coulson I spent just over $200 at Barnes & Noble in one shopping trip. Kathryn McNamara Around $150.00. Kim Kovacs My friend & I always stop at Bloomsbury Books when we make our annual trip to the Ashland Shakespeare Festival in Oregon. One time I had a huge list, and ended up spending just under $100. Ouch! Amy Gross $80.00 S. Rumack I let my two great-granddaughters, ages 6 and 8, loose in a book store. They picked $150 worth of books. They are avid readers and as a former librarian, I am so proud that they love to read. Kathryn Andrews Over $300 at a book fair. Linda Estrin Silly Question. Who cares who has money and who doesn't. Richard Bartels I usually go to the library and the books I DO buy I get at Good Will or other similar stores. So, I guess my top amount is about $10-$15 unless I'm buying a present for my wife. Then I'll spend up to $50. Lisa Over $300, but I was buying collectible books at a book fair at the time. Bonnie Bender Over $200.00 Jean Mess $100.00 Barbara Goettler I remember spending $300.00 on a lot of wonderful books for my kids. They were thrilled, so it was money well spent. Nancy Paquin I made a complete pig of myself and spent $200. But I got the warm fuzzies for months. I loved every word of it. Nanci Race $197.00 S T Nickel $250 booksjammer My shopping spree was on Amazon and I had several gift certificates I received at Christmas. I had a jolly good time spending over $200. Lynn I bought 12-15 books one time at a discounted website and spent about $75.00 incuding shipping. Karen Ferguson The most I can remember spending on books on one shopping trip would have been around a hundred dollars. I'd hit a great sale and went crazy bringing home an arm load of good "reads". Kate $284.00, but most of them were Christmas presents for others. I just can't help myself --- at Christmas, everyone gets a new book. Patricia Ezzell $125.00 Lita Jones Not counting textbooks, probably about $150. My favorite thing to do these days is to see how many books I can get for fewer dollars. The second-hand stores and the public library have used books for even cheaper prices than the used book stores. I once had two large bags of books for less than twenty dollars with fiction, cookbooks and craft books. Gertrude E. Ralph $75.00 on THE BOOK OF KELLS. Trez It is so easy to rack up a large price at a bookstore, there are so many books to read. I found that I owed over $200.00 on one shopping trip. Needless to say, I put a couple of books back. F Tessa Bartels Around $250 at Christmas time for gift buying (plus one or two for myself, of course). Karen Tinney $250 on a spree for holiday gifts for grandchildren. Lynn Ketelsen About $180.00 --- it was Christmas time! :-) Cynthia $800.00 --- this is the record. Unfortunately it wasn't for fun --- they were all the books I needed for the nursing program. But, usually my bill was in the $40 range when I was in the States. In the Philippines, the selection is so dismal, I stopped buying. No credit card now to buy online, but will later, hopefully.
Richard Lee Van Der Voort, American ex-pat in the Philippines Janice Shelnutt $124 Norine Gremse More than $150, less that $175. And I had fun the entire time. I bought books for all the people whom I love. Linda Zaske I always get books for my birthday. As you can see, books are my vice. Debbie Wernert The first time I shopped in a Barnes & Noble was like a trip to the candy store as a child. Of course, that was penny candy... Janey Nichols $174.00 Angie $300 --- my mom died and my book group collected the money to donate to our church library.
