I read the review in the New York Times and just had to buy the book!. While waiting to buy it I read her first book, LANGUAGE OF LIGHT. I loved this book. The reviewer here on Bookreporter says she was confused about the time period this book was set, which was surprising, as it was perfectly clear to me.
I loved LANGUAGE OF LIGHT by Meg Waite Clayton. It was a beautiful. THE WEDNESDAY SISTERS seemed as though it was written by a different author. I think I was disappointed in it b/c I thought it would be written as insightfully as her first. Carol Bosworth THE SHACK by William P. Young. What a great read!!! Ellen The last 2 books I bought after reading reviews/recommendations were THE VANISHING ACT OF ESME LENNOX by Maggie O'Farrell and THE STORY OF EDGAR SAWTELLE by David Wroblewski, which were both very good. I am reading ANIMAL, VEGETABLE, MIRACLE by Barbara Kingsolver (recommended by a friend) right now and it is startlingly good and disturbing if you care at all about what you eat. Julie H. Actually I got the library where I work to buy it. I listened to the audiobook, which was great. Jen THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL by Philippa Gregory. It was on just about every bestseller list, I saw previews of the movie, and an awful lot of people were leaving good reviews so I thought I have to find it. I liked it! Jen THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES by Sue Monk Kidd. I kept seeing reviews for this book, and it must have been lost on me because I didn't think it was all that great. I may have to read it again to see what I missed. Jen ATONEMENT by Ian McEwan. I kept hearing about this book everywhere because of the movie, and I saw reviews. I liked it, but sometimes it seemed a little long in spots and I started to lose interest fast. Jen THE PAINTED VEIL by W.Somerset Maugham. I actually got the movie (I had never heard of this book) then started reading up on it and had to have the book. It's the only book I've ever asked a bookstore to hold for me, which was good because they only had two of them. Amy Gross This past weekend, the 27th of September.
