2004 Shamus Award Winners


The 2004 Shamus Awards were presented on October 8th by the Private Eye Writers of America at the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention in Toronto.

The nominees for the 2004 Shamus Awards include:

Best Novel
THE GUARDS by Ken Bruen (St. Martin's Minotaur)

Best First Novel
BLACK MAPS by Peter Spiegelman (Knopf)

Best Paperback Original
COLD QUARRY by Andy Straka (Signet)

Best Short Story
"Lady on Ice," Loren D. Estleman, A HOT AND SULTRY NIGHT FOR CRIME

Nominees


The Private Eye Writers of America (PWA) has announced its nominees for the 2004 Shamus Awards, honoring excellence in the Private Eye writing tradition. Books eligible for the awards must include a main character that is paid for investigative work, but not employed by the government. Any books or short stories meeting this criteria and first published in 2003 were considered for the awards which will be presented in October at PWA's 22nd anniversary banquet in Toronto, Canada.

The nominees for the 2004 Shamus Awards include:

Best Novel

SCAVENGER HUNT by Robert Ferrigno (Pantheon)
