2007 Pacific Northwest Book Awards
The Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association recently announced the winners of their 2007 Book Awards. The authors of the six winning titles will receive a $1,000 prize, and will be honored at a ceremony held on March 16 at the PNBA Spring Trade Show in Portland, OR.
The PNBA has been presenting annual awards since 1965 to recognize excellence in writing from the Pacific Northwest. Previous winners include Jon Krakauer, Stephanie Kallos, Erik Larson, Chuck Palahniuk, Chris Crutcher, and Ursula K. Le Guin.
The winners of the 2007 Pacific Northwest Book Awards are:
THE WHISTLING SEASON by Ivan Doig (Harcourt)
GOD LAUGHS & PLAYS: CHURCHLESS SERMONS IN RESPONSE TO THE PREACHMENTS OF THE FUNDAMENTALIST RIGHT by David James Duncan (Triad Books / Triad Institute)
THE ZERO by Jess Walter (Regan Books / HarperCollins)
William Stafford Memorial Poetry Award:
LONG JOURNEY: CONTEMPORARY NORTHWEST POETS edited by David Blespiel (Oregon State Press)
Children's Book:
GEMINI SUMMER by Iain Lawrence (Delacorte Press Books for Young Readers)
