QUESTIONS FROM READERS

Linda from San Jose, CA: How did you pick the time and setting for this mystery?

Deanna Raybourn: Initially, this book was set in the Regency period, 1816 to be specific. When I was about 50 pages into the first draft, I realized the setting was off. I had a good think, and decided that 1886 would serve the book much better. The Regency and late Victorian eras were vastly different in almost every way you can imagine --- particularly in matters of manners and technology. The dark, moody repression of the late Victorian age suited the book perfectly. Once I changed the time, everything else fell into place.

Krystal from Paynesville, WV: Will you continue the story of what happened at the end of SILENT IN THE GRAVE, or go on to write about what happens further? I would love to know if the mystery continues in a future book.

Deanna Raybourn: Absolutely! Nicholas and Julia team up again in SILENT IN THE SANCTUARY and we will see them for a third round in SILENT ON THE MOOR.

Cam from Murrells Inlet, SC: When will the sequel be out?

Deanna Raybourn: SILENT IN THE SANCTUARY will be released in January 2008. You can sign up for email updates on releases at my website, www.deannaraybourn.com

Sandra from West Farmington, OH: When is your next book coming out? And will there be another book with Lady Julia Grey in it and, of course, Nicholas Brisbane?

Deanna Raybourn: (See previous answers.)
