  • Laurie R. King was born in the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Laurie R. King received her Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her Master's degree from Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley.

  • Laurie R. King began writing fiction when her youngest child entered preschool.

  • To date, Laurie R. King has written two ongoing series (the Kate Martinelli series and the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series) as well as several stand-alone novels.

  • A GRAVE TALENT, featuring was Kate Martinelli, was King's first professional sale, though she had completed previous manuscripts. The book was published in 1993.

  • THE BEEKEEPER'S APPRENTICE, featuring Mary Russell, was written in 1987 but published in 1994.

  • To date, Laurie R. King's novels have been published in 18 languages; an Edgar Award and Nero award are among her awards and honors.

  • Like her characters, Laurie R. King has traveled widely.
