An Author-Studded Week

Last weekend's New York is Book Country street fair was a nice opportunity to get out and meet our readers. Thanks to those of you who stopped by our booth to say hello. I had the pleasure of meeting some bestselling authors including Alice Sebold, Scott Turow, Michael Chabon, Stephen L. Carter, Lawrence Block, Tami Hoag, Laura Lippman and Mary Pope Osborne at various events throughout the day. I always enjoy meeting writers and hearing them speak anecdotally about their books.

I hope to get to Washington, DC next weekend for the National Literacy Festival. Are any of you planning to be there? Drop me a note at Carol@bookreporter.com and let me know. More information can be found at http://www.loc.gov/bookfest/

This week I have been reading LUCKY, Alice Sebold's first book, a memoir about being raped when she was in college, and the aftermath. It is not easy reading, but gives me a new perspective on her writing in THE LOVELY BONES. Many of you have written asking for a reading group guide for THE LOVELY BONES. Please note that one is now available at ReadingGroupGuides.com. We updated this website this week adding a dozen new guides that are worth perusing including THE SUNDAY WIFE, which was reviewed here last week, and a suspense title called BLOOD that I enjoyed last year, which is just out in paperback. We also have the guide for WHITE OLEANDER spotlighted, as the movie opens soon.

The results of our recent poll about bestsellers lists are in. The top notes: 37% of you read bestseller list for ideas of what to read every week. The lists you consult most --- New York Times, Barnes & Noble and Amazon. See complete results by checking the link on the upper right.

We have a full lineup this week, so keep reading...
ReadingGroupGuides.com has 12 new guides this week.
