Romance Is In The Air....
http://www.authorsontheweb.com/features/0302-romance/romance.asp
While I loathe the commercialism of Valentine's Day, I do confess to being a hopeless romantic. Over the years I have learned that there is big money to be made on romance --- especially writing it! This year we take a look at romance writers with our 2nd Annual Romance Authors Roundtable. I hope you enjoy hearing what these women had to say, as much as I did. This is one very very big part of the book business.

Also, we have a fun feature where 14 (yes we are being cute here with 14) romance authors talk about their first date. We hope you enjoy their stories as much as we did. They can be found at:

Lots to share this week so without further ado, I am going to let you read on...

PATTERN RECOGNITION by William Gibson
Reviewed by Jen Robbins, Becky Ohlsen, Rob Cline, Bob Rhubart and Roz Shea

Five Bookreporter.com reviewers take a look at PATTERN RECOGNITION. Cayce Pollard, a remarkably intuitive market research analyst, is offered a secret assignment: to investigate a series of video clips that have been appearing on the Internet and that an entire subculture of people is obsessed with. Her client sees this as an intriguing marketing tool --- but Cayce soon realizes there's much more to this project than she had originally expected.

As many of you are avid readers, we wanted to share a great offer. Book of the Month Club is offering new members John Grisham's THE KING OF TORTS free, including shipping and handling. I know, you are thinking --- why would I want to join book club? We thought the same thing till we looked more closely at the new deal being offered by Book of the Month Club. What we saw made sense.

Try this out. Think about how many books you buy a year. What if you got the 4 more books that the club requires you to buy over two years at up to 35% off the publisher's price? The way we see it, Book of the Month Club could be a great way to enhance your book collection with some significant savings.

For example, in the past year the following bestsellers were ALL Book of the Month Club selections the month they came out --- THE LOVELY BONES, THE EMPEROR OF OCEAN PARK and PREY. The editors there clearly have their eye on great titles, much the same way we do at Bookreporter.com. Also, you can order and do all transactions online!

Support our sponsor, Book of the Month Club, by checking out the link below for more details. And perhaps pass this along to a friend.

"War! What Is It Good For?"
http://www.bookreporter.com/features/030207-war.asp
In this special feature by Bookreporter.com co-Founder Jesse Kornbluth, we take a look at the Poet's Protest about the White House poetry symposium. Beyond outlining the news story, Jesse takes a look at poems that talk about war. You will be interested to see what he found. And then we ask...

--- What kind of poem would you like to read now: pro-war or anti-war?

--- Do you agree that all poems, regardless of their subject, have a political point-of-view?

--- When you see that a poem (or a song lyric) has a political message, does that please you -- or turn you off?

--- Was the White House naive to think it could invite writers to Washington and have them talk only about the non-political aspects of poetry?

--- Have you written a poem about war? If so, may we read it?

Be sure to read this important feature.

Don't Miss: REAL LOVE and A PEANUT'S VALENTINE
http://www.bookreporter.com/index.asp#miss
We bring you two very different books on love this week. The first is REAL LOVE by Greg Baer. In this book, Dr. Baer shares his secrets for attaining Real Love, the vital ingredient for a relationship to survive and thrive. Readers will learn a wealth of information, including the four steps to finding Real Love, how to put an end to destructive selfish behaviors and ways to eliminate conflicts in your relationships with family members, friends and colleagues. With REAL LOVE as your definitive guide, you can start making up for the mistakes you've made in the past and create rewarding and fulfilling relationships in every area of your life.
To learn more about REAL LOVE, go to GregBaer.com.

And for the lighter side of love, we look at A PEANUTS VALENTINE. Join Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Snoopy and the rest of the gang as they prepare for the most romantic time of year --- and give their own opinions on what the holiday is all about. Find out what happens at the annual Valentine's Day dance, see if the Little Red-Haired Girl sends Charlie Brown a valentine and much more. The Peanuts gang may not be too lucky in the love department, but they'll certainly entertain readers with their witty thoughts and observations in this charming collection.
