Announcing Lisa Gardner, Our New Suspense/Thriller Author
http://www.bookreporter.com/suspense_thriller/index.asp#june
It has been a very crazy post-vacation week. Halfway through Tuesday when everything was seeming a bit haywire for no reason, I stopped and said, "I know what's going on --- Mercury is retrograde!" I google'ed "Mercury retrograde" and sure enough I was right. For any of you who have been readers for a while, you know that this is the only thing astrological that I reference. It has implications with anything that involves communication --- like emails not arriving, FAXes gone astray and a general feeling that things are slightly askew. Tonight I finished this entire note, and then we lost power for two seconds, and I had to start over. It lasts three weeks, and started last Saturday. For any of you wondering why things don't feel right this week, blame Mercury!

In the blur of traveling I completely forgot to thank Heringbess@aol.com for suggesting the poll question about book snobs. If any of you ever have a poll question idea, please feel free to drop me a note at Carol@bookreporter.com. I love to hear your ideas.

This week we announce our next Suspense/Thriller author, Lisa Gardner. For all of you who are taking notes, yes, Lisa is our first female suspense/thriller author. Over New Year's I read THE SURVIVOR'S CLUB, which is out paperback this week. Last week I read THE KILLING HOUR, which will be in stores on July 15th. Lisa quickly has become a "must-read" author for me. She writes characters that are both vulnerable and tough. She packs a punch and in THE KILLING HOUR has kicked her storylines into a new gear.

We are offering 20 advance reading copies of THE KILLING HOUR this week. If you are interested, please send your name and mailing address to SuspenseThriller@bookreporter.com by Friday, May 9th.

This week there's a lot to browse and read...so I am going to stop here. Okay, I'll be honest. I am going to stop before the power knocks out again.

Have a great week.
