First Class Reading
http://free.aol.com/tryaolfree/cdt.adp?139331
This week has been a whirlwind of meetings, parties and events as I traveled to Orlando for the Christian Booksellers Association Convention and then came back to New York for the Romance Writers of America Conference. Once again I saw some terrific books to share with readers. We will be launching FaithfulReader.com in September and I am noodling ideas for a Chick Lit/Women's Fiction/Romance website in early 2004. Ideas for a URL for this one are welcome!

The weather here has been glorious. I am planning on floating and reading tomorrow. As promised, here is another recommendation from the Fall 2003 list --- SPLIT SECOND, which is coming from David Baldacci on September 30th. While reading I pictured Clint Eastwood as the protagonist and kept thinking about a movie he did where he played a Secret Service agent. Enjoyed it enormously.

My heroine of the week is the Delta flight attendant who saw that I was not a happy camper in Coach with the Disney tourists and upgraded me to First Class when I flew back from Orlando. I am donating a book to ReachOutAndRead.com in her name. Sometimes it's the little things that matter. I was reading SEABISCUIT and could not concentrate. Reading the same page 10 times was the giveaway that I was being distracted.

Tonight I am attending Harlequin's Black and White Ball. I am off to my closet to try to come up with a clever outfit. So far, the best one I heard is that one romance author is coming dressed as a nun!

Lisa Gardner is the New York Times bestselling author of such suspense novels as THE PERFECT HUSBAND, THE OTHER DAUGHTER, THE THIRD VICTIM, THE NEXT ACCIDENT, and THE SURVIVORS CLUB. In this special interview with Bookreporter.com's Suspense/Thriller Author Spotlight team (Carol Fitzgerald, Joe Hartlaub, and Wiley Saichek), Gardner discusses the themes and characters in her latest novel, THE KILLING HOUR, as well as the writers who have most influenced her and the bone-chilling details of her next book.

THE KILLING HOUR by Lisa Gardner (Thriller)

Two girls have disappeared, and rookie FBI agent Kimberly Quincy is determined to bring the methodical and vicious criminal who is responsible to justice --- a killer who takes the lives of two victims at a time.
