What did you think of ME & EMMA?
It's a beautifully written book about a very ugly subject: abusive behavior. The author captured the way that young children speak and think which made the book believable and very real. The author is very gifted.

What did you think of ME & EMMA?
I just finished reading the book ME & EMMA and I wanted to send my response right away. After I started reading the book I had trouble putting it down because it was so engrossing. I loved the little girls, and I felt so sorry for them. Of course, I hated Richard and the mother. Such cruelty and meanness they displayed toward the children. I had no inkling about Emma until the last chapter. The book was well-written, and kept my attention and interest. I would recommend it to everyone.

I loved this book! In the beginning I wasn't so sure and thought I knew where it was headed. I was definitely surprised. I would say the writer is a true artist to be able to create such a story that totally surprises the reader. Thanks again for letting me partake in your reader responses.

What did you think of ME & EMMA?
ME & EMMA was a very well-written book. The subject matter was grim, but Ms. Flock's writing style and inclusion of unexpected events kept the plot moving. It was also interesting to see the world through the eyes of an 8 year old. I was conflicted about my final opinion of the book. It was like reading about a person telling a grim story. You could not help but be drawn in. However, at times I felt as if the general plot was going over plowed ground. It was too familiar a story, and one that has been covered in fiction and nonfiction. It is to Ms. Flock's credit that she can add enough different details to keep it from being as much of a re-telling as it could have been. The real kicker is at the end of the book, and it was one worth waiting for. It gave me a lot to ponder. However, if readers cannot retain
their interest, they may not finish the book and miss the heart of the matter. I am still reserving judgment on my final opinion as I keep mulling over the story from time to time.
Would you ever read a future title by Elizabeth Flock?
I would read another book by Elizabeth Flock. I would want to hear her telling another tale so that I could judge how I like her overall style. I would also like to see what her subject matter is and how she handles it. Grim stories do need to be told and told well. I want to see more of her writing and her subject matter.

What other writers do you read?
Anita Brookner, Elizabeth George, Alice Munro and A.S. Byatt.
What did you think of ME & EMMA?
I found the book well written but bleak. The narrative voice is convincing as an abused and unloved child.
Would you ever read a future title by Elizabeth Flock?
I probably wouldn't read another Elizabeth Flock book. I prefer books with a stronger sense of place and more hopeful endings. Thanks for sending me this book.

What other writers do you read?
I'm an avid reader and I'm constantly "discovering" new writers. I enjoy, for the most part, reading fiction by the following authors: Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, Danielle Steel, Harlan Coben, Barbara Delinsky, Debbie Macomber, Fern Michaels, Elizabeth Berg and many others too numerous to mention.
What did you think of ME & EMMA?
This is the first time I've read a book by Elizabeth Flock and I was extremely impressed. I literally could not put this book down until I was finished and can't get the story out of my mind. While reading ME & EMMA, I ran through a great deal of emotions...anger, rage, sympathy...to name a few. The fact that the narrative was by "Big Sister" Caroline (Carrie) Parker and the issues of child abuse, brought to mind a cross between TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and A CHILD CALLED IT. The author made everything seem real and, without question, handled the book's narrative by an 8-year old girl in an extremely believable manner. The ending of this story --- a shock to say the least --- will be remembered for a long, long time to come. I don't believe anyone can read ME & EMMA without thoroughly enjoying it. I can honestly say, Elizabeth Flock has won another loyal reader and I can't wait until her next book is published.
Would you ever read a future title by Elizabeth Flock?
After completing ME & EMMA, I immediately purchased a previous novel, BUT INSIDE I'M SCREAMING. I'm anxious to read this book and will look forward to all future novels by this author.
