What did you think of THE GOOD GOOD PIG?
As an animal lover, it was wonderfully descriptive of Christopher's love of life, especially not ever knowing his true fate. I learned about a pig's intelligence --- something I never knew or really thought about. Or maybe it is how we humans interpret animal language? All animals have their own distinctive personalities --- even pigs! And he was a character!
Would you ever read a future book by Sy Montgomery?
Yes, I would.

Have you previously read a book by Sy Montgomery?
I hadn't read anything by Sy Montgomery before.
What other authors do you read?
Some of my favorites are Penny Vincenzi and Harlan Coben. Actually, I read such a variety that many authors are favorites. I read Bookreporter.com faithfully and choose most of my books from reading reviews from people like me.
What did you think of THE GOOD GOOD PIG?
I loved THE GOOD GOOD PIG from the opening sentence. Who wouldn't be captivated by that first line? It's a fun read and I will recommend the book to my reading friends.
I did find several places where words were left out, but I suppose that's typical in an "Advance Copy."
I found some very profound thoughts throughout the book and have marked them so I can refer to them again later. Thanks so much for the book. It was a real delight.
Would you ever read a future book by Sy Montgomery?
I would be interested in reading another book by Sy Montgomery.
Melissa from Appleton, WI
Have you previously read a book by Sy Montgomery?
I had not read anything by Sy Montgomery.
What other authors do you read?
Usually, I read plot-based mysteries, biographies, literary fiction and current-affairs material, and almost anything on Japan. No particular authors.
What did you think of THE GOOD GOOD PIG?
I chuckled on almost every page and tried to imagine how my neighbors would react to a wandering large critter. Not as graciously, I am afraid. Manicured lawns and neighborhood covenants don't go well with any farm creatures around here. Rural Wisconsin is much more contained than rural New Hampshire.
Would you ever read a future book by Sy Montgomery?
I would be interested (as a graduated biology major) in her other books and would encourage her to keep making contact with children in school settings. I know girls would love to hear about writers who write on subjects that are not addressed in "Sex and the City" or current "teen" genres. Thank you for the book! I am happily recommending it in our store.

Have you previously read a book by Sy Montgomery?
No, I had not even heard of her, although now I may check out her other books.
What other authors do you read?
Sue Monk Kidd, Elizabeth Berg, Faith Sullivan, Louise Erdrich, Elizabeth Bowen and Willa Cather.
What did you think of THE GOOD GOOD PIG?
Montgomery's love of nature and animals shines through every page. What a heart-touching story. For those of us in suburbia who are unable to raise farm animals, what a delight it was to read about Christopher Hogwood and how he was loved. It was an enjoyable read, and she is a good writer. I would read another book by this author. Thanks for letting me read it --- now I will share it with my sis who has ducks, chickens, horses,a donkey, zebra, dogs and TWO pigs.

Have you previously read a book by Sy Montgomery?
No.
What other authors do you read?
A huge variety: Legal Thrillers by William Lashner and Sheldon Siegel; nature writing by Hal Borland, Ed Teale, Sigurd Olsen, Diane Ackerman and Sue Hubbell; and how-to-write-for-wannabe-writers books by just about anyone who will write one. Other fiction writers I like are Barbara Kingsolver, John Irving, Robert Olen Butler, Joyce Carol Oates, and on and on and on.
What did you think of THE GOOD GOOD PIG?
It was hard to keep going. It had some funny, interesting, and even touching stories, but it felt like it was missing an overall narrative/theme that might have held it together better.
Would you ever read a future book by Sy Montgomery?
I doubt it. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this book.

What other authors do you read?
I'm a very eclectic reader, and I enjoy variety of authors. Some I have read lately are Khaled Hosseini, Erik Larson, Charles Martin, Gregory Maguire, Andrew M. Greeley, Tess Gerritsen, Nicholas Sparks and Eleanor Widmer.
What did you think of THE GOOD GOOD PIG?
I'm sorry to say that I did not like the book at all. I had to keep forcing myself to go back and read some more, thinking I would like it, but I never did. I found the author to be a very boring writer who failed to keep my interest, even though the story was a good idea. She was repetitive throughout the book. Even though I am from Iowa, where she thinks we all have pigs, the only time I see one is if I go to the County or State Fair. Though pigs have no place in my life, I could see where this could be an interesting story, but I think the author failed to make it interesting. There is so much about the food the pig had that after a while, all I wanted to say was, "OK, the pig eats everything --- get on with it."
Would you ever read a future book by Sy Montgomery?
No. Thank you for sending me the book, even though I didn't like it.
