Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Julie Buxbaum's THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE.

Anne from Charlotte, NC

What other authors do you usually read?
I am currently reading THE APPEAL by John Grisham. Some of my favorite authors are Tom Clancy, Sharyn McCrumb, Charlaine Harris and James Patterson.

What did you think of THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE?
I thought THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE was a thoughtful, humorous and original novel about the questions that we all face at some time in our lives. We need to find ourselves before we can give of ourselves. Apathy is the opposite of love.

Would you ever read a future book by Julie Buxbaum?
Yes, I would read more books by this author.

Carmelita from Bluefield, WV

What other authors do you usually read?
Other authors I read include John Irving, Joyce Carol Oates, Ken Follett, Thomas Hardy, M. C. Beaton, and a host of others.

What did you think of THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE?
This is Julie Buxbaum's first book and I have read it with pleasure and delight. THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE was enchanting. The prose was elegant and the characterizations were sharp. The plot was engaging and the descriptions were crisp. The theme of the story was "on target" and the message was strong and clear.

Would you ever read a future book by Julie Buxbaum?
I look forward to reading another book by Julie Buxbaum.

Linda from Oceanside, NY

What other authors do you usually read?
I have read more than one book by: Elizabeth Berg, Jodi Picoult, Khaled Hosseini, Sandra Brown, Marian Keyes, Ken Follett, Fannie Flagg, Elinor Lipman, Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, Lisa Gardner and many more..

What did you think of THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE?
I really enjoyed this book. I started out not liking Emily, but by the end, she was a character I really came to care about and wanted her to get herself together. I enjoyed many of the secondary characters, including the friends Kate, Jess and Mason. I loved Grandpa Jack and Ruth. I enjoyed the therapist, Dr. Lerner, and her forthrightness. Emily’s Dad made me sad because he was so closed off toward his life and daughter. I like the way the author weaved all of them in and out of Emily’s life and made them all believable. I think another book can be written about a few of those people.

I would guess that many would call this chick-lit, but I think it has a great deal of depth, and is filled with humor, pathos, and love. I much prefer calling it Contemporary Fiction.

Would you ever read a future book by Julie Buxbaum?
Absolutely!

Linda from Trumbull, CT

What other authors do you usually read?
Some of my favorite authors include Mary Higgins Clark, Sue Grafton and Carly Phillips.

Would you ever read a future book by Julie Buxbaum?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE by Julie Buxbaum. I was put off by the opening paragraph, but once I got past that, I could not put the book down. Julie Buxbaum does a great job of developing characters. Her descriptions of characters and places are very detailed and enable us to feel that we are watching the story unfold. The book has moments of humor and sadness and many moments of growth and awakening. It was interesting to watch Emily grow and realize what she must do.

THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE was a great read and I look forward to reading more books by Julie Buxbaum.

Would you ever read a future book by Julie Buxbaum?
I would read another book by Julie Buxbaum.
