What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?
Thank you for the opportunity to be among the first to read FULL DARK HOUSE. It was a wonderful book. I especially enjoyed the dialogue and camaraderie between John and Arthur, and particularly the surprise ending!
Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
I absolutely will look for and read future works by Christopher Fowler. His dialogue is witty, and fresh, but with a poignancy between the characters at times which makes me feel they are real people.

What suspense/thriller writers do you read?
My favorite genre is the medical thriller, but I read most of them: some of my favorites are Harlan Coben, Phillip Margolin, Tess Gerritsen, Robin Cook, Michael Palmer, Robert W. Walker, Patricia Cornwell, Karin Slaughter, Alex Kava, Joy Fielding, JD Robb, Mary Higgins Clark, Tami Hoag, Lincoln Preston and Lee Child, Kevin O'Brien, Erica Spindler, Gwen Hunter, Andrew Vachss, John Sandford, Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson, Robert Crais, Kay Hooper, Lisa Scottoline, Dan Brown, Michael Connelly, Perri O'Shaughnessy, Susan Sloan, Michael Slade, James Grippando, Leonard Goldberg, Janet Evanovich, Jilliane Hoffman, Jodi Compton. I could go on! And I am always looking for new authors. I love suspense/thrillers.
What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?
I really liked it! This was not a typical thriller for me, and one I probably would not have picked up on my own --- I don't read many British mysteries, but I was enthralled with the two main characters, Bryant and May and their search for a murderer in an old opera house --- The Palace. The story was very interesting, and as the case unfolded, I was intrigued by all the factual information on the theater and the Greek gods that the author detailed. The story sort of reminded me of "Phantom of the Opera." The background setting of WWII added to the development of the story. I did think the author sort of left me hanging about Elissa Renalda.
Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
Yes, in fact, if there is another "case" by this duo, I will be looking for it. I may look up and read some of the backlist.

What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?
It's an interesting and entertaining book. Christopher Fowler is a clever wordsmith. His descriptions and dialogues of WWII London seem very authentic, and the transitions between events occurring then and in the present flow easily. I enjoyed the story and especially the many amusing phrasings of the author. I suspected the outcome of Bryant's apparent demise, but the person responsible for the murders was a surprise to me. I will certainly recommend the book.
Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
Yes. I understand his second book featuring Arthur Bryant and John May, THE WATER ROOM will be issued in England this July. I'm looking forward to reading it. I also plan to read some of his earlier books.

What suspense/thriller writers do you read?
Practically all of them, from Marjorie Allingham to Randy Wayne White. I started on Agatha Christie as a kid (I am now 70) and have been through many authors and series. I like well-constructed plots and continuing characters, hapless protagonists who blunder along ultimately getting it right, female heroines and gimmicks. Most of all I like good writing. I savor these authors especially: Michael Connelly, Elizabeth George, Martha Grimes, P. D. James and Dorothy Sayers.
What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?
I liked it although I did think it was a bit overlong and slow paced. It really is an old British classic mystery, with the mystery involving the classics. Arthur Bryant and John May make a great detective team, with Biddle, Davenport and Longbright adding just the right components to make the book fun. The descriptions of the blitz are riveting.
Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
Yes. I look forward to the next story and Bryant’s and May’s further character developments.

What suspense/thriller writers do you read?
I especially enjoy Jonathan Kellerman, John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, Robin Cook, Stephen White and many more. I can't even think of their names right now. My favorites are the legal thrillers and those that have a good plot and character development.
What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?
I really enjoyed FULL DARK HOUSE. May and Bryant were enjoyable characters and I had no idea who the killer was until he/she were disclosed. At times I had a little trouble figuring out whether the story was in the past or the present and would have to reread a few paragraphs. I enjoyed reading about London during the bombings, the ration coupons and everything else about the times.
Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
Yes, I would like to read more about May and Bryant.

What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?

Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
Yes.

What suspense/thriller writers do you read?
John LeCarre, Robert Ludlum, Dean Koontz and Robin Cook.
What did you think of FULL DARK HOUSE?
I was a tad disappointed, but I should have realized he is a British author and I generally do not enjoy those books as well as those from American authors. I know that is a biased opinion, but it is mine.
Would you read future titles by Christopher Fowler?
Possibly.
