Have you read M.J. Rose before?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Some James Patterson, Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark --- nothing recently, but this book wowed me.

What did you think of THE HALO EFFECT?
Very well written. I was a goner from the first page, and this book was hard to put down. I have not read anything recently so easy going and fluid, with characters so well defined. I felt that I knew them and could also relate to them. I have recently broken up with an officer from a local homicide department, so it gave me insight as to what he might have felt or be feeling --- the depression, the darkness. He also has blue eyes like Noah. Blue eyes can indeed be expressive, depending on the shade of blue. I found this book believable. I was sad when it ended, but happy with the outcome.

Would you ever read future M.J. Rose titles?
You BET I would. I cannot wait.

Have you read M.J. Rose before?
I have read LIP SERVICE and gave it a 5 out of 5 rating.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
There are many that I read, some of which are: Larry Brooks, Sandra Brown, Douglas Clegg, Nicci French, Julie Garwood, Tess Gerritsen, Kay Hooper, Linda Howard, Greg Iles, Lisa Jackson, Alex Kava, Michael Kimball, Stephen King, Andrew Klavan, Dean Koontz, Richard Laymon, Bentley Little, Robert B. Parker, Karen Rose, Lisa Scottoline, Maggie Shayne, Carlene Thompson, Stephen White, Bari Wood.

What did you think of THE HALO EFFECT?
I found THE HALO EFFECT a joy to read. I would rate it 5 out of 5. The author has the ability to make the reader a part of the book. Reading it is like being there and is very easy to visualize the story, surroundings, and events. A technique that I noticed is to introduce a character (i.e., the mother) but leave an unasked question that is answered later along with other unasked questions. This technique builds suspense along with an expectation. Truly enjoyable.

Would you ever read future M.J. Rose titles?
Definitely.

Have you read M.J. Rose before?
Yes, I have read all her books --- got a heads up from a friend of hers (always referred in her books) Doug Clegg, whose newsletter I get regularly. I loved LIP SERVICE and IN FIDELITY --- didn't like SHEET MUSIC at all --- luckily that wasn't the first I read by her, but I think she's a very good writer, really gets me involved in the story.

What author suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I have many regulars --- James Patterson, Andrew Klaven, Leslie Glass, Joy Fielding, John Grisham (not always --- I try out a book, and if I can't get interested in a chapter or two, I let it go), Dean Koontz, new author Joseph Finder (read a pre-pub copy of PARANOIA and I liked that). Liked a new book by Lauren Kelly, TAKE ME, TAKE ME WITH YOU --- it had scary undertones, not really suspense or a thriller. Love Dennis Lehane --- am trying to read everything he wrote after having read MYSTIC RIVER (before I saw the movie) and SHUTTER ISLAND. Many more authors; don't all come to mind.

What did you think of THE HALO EFFECT?
Loved THE HALO EFFECT. I found it hard to put down, found it very sexy, sensual --- she evokes a mood when she writes, sort of dark and disturbing. I did guess who the bad guy was, but I usually enjoy the story more than the ending anyway.

Would you ever read future M.J. Rose titles?
Absolutely --- was thrilled to get this book, because she's an author I follow, that is, I check ahead of time to see if she has a new book coming out, and will read it despite reviews or word of mouth --- I like her writing enough that I will try the book no matter what.

Have you read M.J. Rose before?

Yes. I read IN FIDELITY. Very much enjoyed it.

What author suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I don't. (Long ago I read some, Patricia Cornwell, a few others). So I am not an ideal reader or judge.

What did you think of THE HALO EFFECT?
I read it quite quickly, stayed up late to finish last night. Entertaining, fast paced. Hilarious at times, but I have a strange sense of humor so that may not have been intentional. I liked the laughs though.

It needs editing, in the sense that there are little errors that have escaped notice, of editing, not plot, etc. To be clear, it does NOT need anything cut out, it is quite spare as is, I would even have liked to see some things more thoroughly covered. But, that is just me, and I would imagine that most readers of such novels do not want lengthy explanations.

I found the knowing painful-It is quite clear from the beginning who the EVIL ONE is going to be, and this makes the suspense greater.

M.J. Rose is very good at conveying character in few words. Also good at relationships between people.

I hope the delicious hero will be a constant in the series. (Jordain)

I was of the impression that once the heart stops beating wounds no longer bleed.

Would you ever read future M.J. Rose titles?
Yes, although I will probably go back and read the earlier ones first. Suspense is not my thing. Luckily I have a friend with a convenient birthday who got and enjoyed THE HALO EFFECT and will receive future gifts.

Though I have to say that in IN FIDELITY the suspense is very very well written. Subtle and effective. So, I suppose I like suspense in non-suspense genre novels. Hee.

Personally, I would love to read a romance or literary novel by M.J. Rose.
