Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about David Wolstencroft's GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS.

dagnelly@tds.net

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read? I was a big Ludlum fan. Currently I read Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, Ridley Pearson, Minette Walters and T. Jefferson Parker to name a few.

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
I found it to be an interesting book. I see that the author wrote and created SPOOKS (MI-5) and found that some of the chapters ended with a pause that I would liken to --- this is a good spot for a commercial break. In total, I did enjoy the book and found the characters of Charlie and George well drawn and interesting.

Would you read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
I would definitely read another book by the author to see what direction he was going in with his writing.

Clogwoman@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Daniel Silva, Nelson DeMille, Sandra Brown, Dan Brown, Steve Berry.

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
I really didn't enjoy this book...I felt it was very shallow and the characters were not developed enough to make the story work...it might make a lovely 1/2 hour sitcom though.

Would you read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
I would give him one more chance.

What other supsense/thriller writers do you read?
Other suspense/thriller authors that I enjoy are Nelson DeMille, David Baldacci and Brad Meltzer.

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
I liked the book well enough. At first I was really drawn in to find out about Charlie and George, but as the book progressed it started to seem too contrived just for sensationalism. [sorry]

Would you ever read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
Possibly I would give him another try.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
I have read books by suspense/thriller authors James Patterson, Tom Clancy, and Dean Koontz.
What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS was a good read. The plot had plenty of twists, and the flashbacks helped develop the reader's understanding of the characters and spy training. The Good News, Bad News game was an interesting device that Mr. Wolstencroft used throughout the book. Not only did Charlie continue to utilize this game he had played as a child, but the story itself seemed to be a giant game of Good News, Bad News, with unexpected bad turns coming out of nowhere. I would probably give the book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Would you read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
Depending on the subject, I might read future books by David Wolstencroft. Suspense/thrillers aren't my favorite genre, so they're not usually the first books I select to read.

DRRYNEARSON@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I have read a lot of suspense/thriller books over the years but my all time favorite detective is Nero Wolfe by Rex Stout. I know this isn't the typical suspense/thriller, but I have enjoyed reading all of his books and watch the TV version of his stories.

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
First let me thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful book. I am really enjoying it but I have not been able to finish it. I am about 2/3's of the way through and will be finishing it soon.

I am really caught up in the suspense and intrigue of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS and now that I have started it I find it hard to put down. I will most certainly be recommending it to my book talk group and I will be looking forward to future titles by David Wolstencroft. I am certain that his books will be great hits and much sought after reading.

I hope to begin watching MI-5 soon.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Harlan Coben, Thomas Perry, Iris Johansen, Daniel Silva, among others.

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
Overall, I liked it. Sometimes the writing style made it difficult to follow the action, but before my confusion turned to frustration, the author managed to step in and clarify. The plot had several twists that kept me wondering right to the very end.

Would you read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
Probably.

moonsunnydaze@yahoo.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I really enjoy Robert Ludlum

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
I thought it was an interesting concept. The book did not capture me at the beginning but as the story progressed it finally captured my attention. Some people may not have thought that the book was not funny but I did. I thought it had a lot of laughs.

Would you read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
Yes, I would, but only if the first couple of pages intrigue me.

Ptacek1@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
James Lee Burke, Harlan Coben.

What did you think of GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS?
I enjoyed the story line, and the action scenes were exciting. I did not care for the “forward-and-back” style, and there seemed to be several places where we never learned the outcome of events. On balance, a good book.

Would you read future titles by David Wolstencroft?
I’m not sure.
