Helen from Tewksbury, MA: How did you plan out this book? Where did you get the ideas?
Robert D. Taylor: First, I sketched out a story line. Then I developed the character outline. The story wasn't that difficult to write because it is about me and my nine years of research, quantifying my empirical evidence and writing the essay about my discovery, The Taylor Effect. Although I have to admit my characters are taller, more handsome and have a lot more fun and excitement than I do. The ideas were based on my experiences, real historical events and a little imagination.
Lisa from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA: PARADIGM featured many great characters. Is there any chance that readers will see them again in upcoming books?
Robert D. Taylor: Yes! Nearly all the characters return in the sequel, titled THE LAST PARADIGM. You will see Nicholas, Cassandra, Francesca, Galen, Gabe, Malachi, Mika, and of course, some newly introduced characters.
You will also see Alex throughout the entire book. You see, PARADIGM was earmarked to be the sequel to THE LAST PARADIGM, but timing prevented me from publishing the books in chronological order. But don't worry, you will meet individuals that are real and dangerous, and situations that are true and revolutionary.
Peggy from Hurst, TX: My question to you is how do you plan to top this one?
Robert D. Taylor: You ask one of the most exciting questions that I can answer. PARADIGM has a sequel titled THE LAST PARADIGM. Actually PARADIGM would have been the sequel to THE LAST PARADIGM, but timing was slightly out of phase.
If you read PARADIGM then you probably picked up on something unusual that Alex was working on. His device is real and in the last stages of development. A film company will finalize its documentary on the optimizing of a finished prototype that will be presented on the day I reveal the device to the public, which hopefully will be before the end of 2006. If you read ATLAS SHRUGGED, you would have read about something similar to Alex's research, which was the development of an alternative energy device.
Also, in THE LAST PARADIGM all the same characters in PARADIGM exist including Malachi and Mika Hunter.
Richard from Downingtown, PA: Are you planning to return Mika Hunter and the "box" in your future works?
Robert D. Taylor: Yes, every character in PARADIGM will exist in the sequel, THE LAST PARADIGM, even Alex. If you have any unanswered questions or thoughts with PARADIGM, THE LAST PARADIGM will definitely pull everything together, including something that will forever change the world as we know it.
Suzanne from North Grosvenordale, CT: Have you had the same kind of response to your theories as Nicholas did at the world conference, where you were scorned or laughed at as he was? Also, how would a novice begin to use your theory and how much money do you think a beginner would need to really make money?
Robert D. Taylor: Yes. Most of what happened in PARADIGM and the type of scorn and ridicule that Nicholas received has happened to me in one way or another. What I am presenting in PARADIGM has the potential to change the financial industry. In other words, cause a paradigm shift that will forever change the way we look at financial markets. What I am hoping for is that other experts in other sciences will look at the human predictability factors in the economic arena and take this knowledge as a guideline to discover usages in their own individual fields.
