Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Stephen White's DRY ICE.

Bridget from Port Charlotte, FL

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
No, this was my first read by Stephen White. But, I must admit that I had to read a few excerpts from the first book, PRIVILEGED INFORMATION, because DRY ICE was such an interesting read, and I found the characters fascinating.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Scott Smith, to name just a few.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
The characters and story kept me on the edge of my seat! There are plenty of plot twists that leave your mouth agape in awe. The author certainly understands human emotions and knows what terrifies us --- especially the secrets that haunt us from the past. It takes great courage to confront demons from the past, and the protagonist of this story not only does just that, but finally --- and literally --- comes face to face with the one who created his nightmares, as well as his family's and friends', from the beginning. A truly satisfying read. Accolades to Mr. White for scaring the wits out of me!

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
Absolutely. I have every intention on reading PRIVILEDGED INFORMATION now. Thanks again for the opportunity to read and comment on DRY ICE by Stephen White. He's a terrific writer!

Debby from Rapid City, SD

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
Yes, every one since the beginning. Thank you for the opportunity to read this.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson and Harlan Coben.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
I thought it was another great Alan Gregory novel, full of twists and turns, with secrets and confidentiality issues throughout the book. I  could not put it down until I finished.

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
Definitely. I always look forward to the new one and get it as soon as possible.

Donald from North Myrtle Beach, SC

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Stephen King, Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs and Lee Child.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
It kept me guessing every minute. For some reason, it took me longer to read than most books, but it was very good. It is almost in the [same class as] Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware series.

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?

Absolutely.

Frank from Middletown, NJ

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
This is the first book by Stephen White that I have read.  I plan to read others.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Michael Connelly, James Patterson, Jeffery Deaver, Stephen King, Nelson DeMille and others.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
Thank you for the book. I enjoyed the story, though I wish that I had read the previous books that were referenced throughout this one.

DRY ICE started slowly, but once I became used to Mr. White’s style, I was able to jump into the story and read through it quite quickly. I also felt that a lot of time was spent on relationships and plots from previous books with assumptions that the readers would understand these plot items. This kept me from becoming fully involved with the characters.

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
I will certainly look for new books by Stephen White, as well as begin reading his back catalog.

Louise from Yuma, CO

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White? What did you think of DRY ICE?
Thanks so much for sending me Stephen White's latest book, DRY ICE. I have read a number of his books and like his writing style. I appreciate his psychology background, which is evident in the accurate portrayals of people with mental disorders. I also like the characterizations of the dogs --- he really nails their personalities.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Other suspense/thriller authors I have enjoyed in the past week include James Patterson, Frederick Forsyth, Julia Navarro and T. Jefferson Parker. I also like John Grisham, David Baldacci, Tess Gerritsen, and so many others. I am a retired forensic psychotherapist, so I have lots of time to read!

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
I have only disliked one of Stephen Whites' books, KILL ME. I definitely will read more of his books.

Nancy from Bangor, ME

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
Yes, I have read five other books written by Stephen White: HARM'S WAY, PRIVATE PRACTICES, BLINDED, MISSING PERSONS and COLD CASE.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I enjoy reading books by many authors, including Iris Johansen, John Grisham, Jonathan Kellerman, Michael Connelly, John Sandford, Harlan Coben and Kay Hooper (to name a few!).

What did you think of DRY ICE?
I thought it was a great book. Many of the main characters were familiar from reading his other works. DRY ICE was fast paced and easily held my interest and attention, and the dialogue was very well written. I enjoyed the story, which had the right amount of suspense to keep it interesting. I also enjoyed the continuing twists and turns in the relationships and interactions of the main characters.

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
Yes, I'm looking forward to his next book!

Catherine from Aurora, CO<

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
I had not read any of Stephen White's books before.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I don't have a "favorite" Suspense/Thriller author, but two books I have enjoyed recently were by Lincoln Child and Mary Daheim.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
I thoroughly enjoyed DRY ICE. It started out a little slowly, but after 40-50 pages, I was completely into the story. I loved Dr. Gregory's sarcastic sense of humor. I also like books that make me think and keep me on my toes, as far as following the plot.

I was reading this at a youth baseball game, and a stranger came up and asked me if I liked it. I said I did, and he told me he has read every one of Mr. White's books and considered his earlier work to be much better than DRY ICE. So, now I need to check out his earlier books!

Roger from Erie, PA

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
I haven't previously read a book by Stephen White.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read many other suspense/thriller authors. Michael Connelly, David Baldacci and Nelson DeMille are some whom I read frequently.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
I enjoyed the plot in DRY ICE, but while I was reading it, I felt like I was trying to catch up the entire time. I hadn't read any of White's other books, and there were a lot of references to things that had happened in the past. Although he explained the necessary portions, there was still a lot referenced that I didn't know. Reading this book felt like taking a test that I hadn't studied for.

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
I would read a future book by Stephen White because the story itself was good and I'd like to see if he writes anything that can be read as a stand alone book even if someone hadn't read the entire series.

Areta from Walnut Creek, CA

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
I think I have read all of Stephen White's books.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I also read Brian Haig, John Lutz, P.D. James, Elizabeth George, Nelson DeMille and James Patterson.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
It was possibly his best so far. Alan Gregory was more vulnerable, more interesting and more likeable than ever. The mysteries led through surprising twists and turns in the most delightful way. Think you know what is going to happen when you find out where Stephen White got the title? Nope, you find out later that he has another take on ice. (Interestingly, a woman wanted to buy the book from me when she saw me reading it while waiting for my plane home in the Seattle airport.)

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?

Absolutely! I can't wait to find out how [a new character] is going to fit into a future mystery. My guess is that one like that is in the works. I will be on pins and needles waiting to find out about the state of Alan Gregory's marriage.

Jennie from Colton, CA

Have you previously read a book by Stephen White?
No, I have not.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Jonathan Kellerman and Faye Kellerman.

What did you think of DRY ICE?
Alas, I am only 1/3 through DRY ICE, but am thoroughly enjoying the read. I like the way the author throws out little "teasers" and then moves on. For example, Alan Gregory's secrets. I'm dying to find out what they are. I also appreciate the humor the author injects into the story, such as the garage collapsing.

Would you ever read a future book by Stephen White?
Yes, and I think I'll go back and read the ones I've missed, too!
