Raymond Khoury
Fast Facts:
- Raymond is originally from Lebanon, but left the country in 1975 --- when civil
war broke out --- to attend school in Rye, NY. He returned to study architecture
from the American University in Beirut, but war erupted again just as he completed
his degree and was evacuated from the city in 1984. He now lives in London with
his family.
- Raymond also has an MBA from the European Institute of Business Administration,
in Fontainebleau, France.
- Raymond has worked as an illustrator for children’s books, an architect
and an investment banker, but left those careers to pursue more creative endeavors
writing screenplays and producing in both London and L.A. He adapted Melvin
Bragg’s novel, THE MAID OF BUTTERMERE for the big screen, and has written
for the BBC shows “Spooks” (MI:5 in the U.S.) “Waking the
Dead.”<
- Two of Raymond’s screenplays were shortlisted for the Fulbright Scholarship
in Screenwriting Award.
- Raymond’s bestselling debut novel, THE LAST TEMPLAR, was originally
written as a screenplay. His friends and his literary agent encouraged him to
turn it into a novel.
- Some of Raymond’s favorite authors are Harlan Coben, Alfred Bester,
Ernest Hemingway, Jack Finney, Lawrence Block, Michael Connelly, Nelson DeMille
and Philip K. Dick.
