  • Mark grew up in Galveston, TX and attended Southwest Texas State University, where he earned a B. A. in Political Science. He also has a J. D. degree from Notre Dame Law School.

  • Mark practiced law and became a partner at a large Dallas firm, but left after ten years to practice solo, and to write.

  • Mark’s debut work of fiction, the legal thriller THE COLOR OF LAW, was published in 2005, to much acclaim. It was a New York Times bestseller and was nominated for a “Thriller” Award and “Gumshoe” Award.

  • Mark’s latest book, THE ABDUCTION, steers away from the legal-thriller genre and instead focuses on a ten-year-old child who is kidnapped, and the possible government plot that may be behind it.

  • Mark currently lives outside Forth Worth, TX, with his wife and two sons.
