Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Mariah Stewart's MERCY STREET.

Catherine from Brea, CA

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
I have never read a book by Mariah Stewart.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
The only other author I have read in the romantic suspense category is Nora Roberts.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
I very much enjoyed reading MERCY STREET. It was a hard book to put down. I liked the two different story lines about Robert Magellen and his missing wife and child, and the shooting of the two boys and the disappearance of Courtney and Ryan. I particularly liked the way that Mallory Russo thought through the possible scenarios at the playground. The book kept me guessing until the end. The scene when Sally was shot was very heartbreaking.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
I will look forward to reading future books by Mariah Stewart. I will enjoy seeing if I like it as well as I liked this one. I also hope that in another book, we will find out what happened to Beth and Ian.

Glenda from Winter Park, FL

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
No, this is my first.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
I must admit that I read mysteries quite often but seldom read romantic suspense. I have read Gail Barrett on occasion.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
I enjoyed it. I felt the characters were developed in a realistic way and I remained interested in each of the plots.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
Yes, I would.

Karen from Raymond, OH

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
I have read almost all of the books by Mariah Stewart. I picked up one book, finished it and then ordered the ones I had missed.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
I mainly read books by Kay Hooper, Nora Roberts, Catherine Coulter, Allison Brennan, Linda Howard, Lisa Jackson, Heather Graham and Iris Johansen.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
Once I started reading this book, I didn't stop until I finished it. I really liked the characters and how they interacted. I was pulling for Mallory and Charlie and will be interested in the story line involving Susanna and Robert and his “extended family.”

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
I have already pre-ordered her next two books. I hate to have to wait till 2009 to meet Mallory, Charlie, Susanna and Robert again.

Linda from Corydon, IN

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
Other authors that I read are Erica Spindler, Elizabeth Lowell, Jayne Ann Krentz, Carla Neggers and Lisa Jackson.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
I finished it in one day. I enjoyed it, but not quite as much as her earlier books. I thought everything wrapped up too easily and predictably.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
I will probably read future books by this author. I have read 11 of her previous books.

Lori from Cambridge, MA

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
I’ve read all of her books.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
I read Karen Rose, Allison Brennan, Brenda Novak and Jordan Dane, to name a few.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
I loved it. It was very well written and caught my attention from the beginning. It was fast paced and thrilling. I like how the focus primarily stayed on the MSF project, and I look forward to seeing what else happens in upcoming books.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
Of course. I’ve already got the next book in this series on my wish list on Paperbackswap.com and I’m the fourth in line for it.

Robin from Searcy, AR

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
No.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
I usually read suspense or mystery authors, not romantic ones, so wasn't sure what to expect. Although, I have recently discovered Iris Johansen.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
I loved it! It had just enough romance without being overly mushy, and it left me wondering what happened to the some of the characters. I think all of that together made this a great novel that I couldn't put down, and I finished it in less than three days. I hope this is the beginning of a series.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
Yes, especially if it’s a follow up to MERCY STREET. I am already looking for some of her other books.

Teri Lynn from Hamilton, NJ

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
MERCY STREET was the first book I've read by Ms. Stewart.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
I'm not big on romantic suspense as I find the storylines to be predictable. In the past I've read books by Carlene Thompson, Heather Graham and Allison Kent.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
I was pleasantly surprised. The story was fast paced and not predictable. It was cleverly written. I didn't want it to end and was sorry when I turned the last page.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
Absolutely. I've already purchased some of her older books.

Elizabeth from Salina, KS

Have you previously read a book by Mariah Stewart?
Yes, I have read most of her books.

What other romantic suspense authors do you usually read?
I read Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, M.J. Rose and Jude Deveraux.

What did you think of MERCY STREET?
This book was entertaining, but not as good as her previous books.

Would you ever read a future book by Mariah Stewart?
Yes, definitely.
