Fast Facts:
- Christopher was born in Tokyo in 1961, where his father ran a travel agency. The Reich family moved back to the United States in 1965, and settled in Los Angeles, California.
- Christopher graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in history and attended business school at the University of Texas at Austin.
- Before turning to writing full time in 1995, Christopher worked as an investment banker in Geneva and Zurich. He became inspired to write his first thriller, NUMBERED ACCOUNT --- published in 1998 --- on his second day of work with the Union Bank of Switzerland.
- One of Christopher’s inspirations for writing 2002's THE FIRST BILLION was reading a report about the KGB's financial state in the 1990s.
- Christopher counts John Le Carré as one of his writing inspirations, saying in a Q&A that "everything I learned about writing, I got from Le Carré."
- THE PATRIOTS CLUB, Christopher’s fifth novel, won the International Thriller Writers Award for Best Novel in 2006.
- In late May, 2005, Christopher was engaged to create a television pilot called “The Diplomat” in coordination with Brillstein-Grey Entertainment. Though the pilot did not make it to the airwaves, his research --- which included a conversation with General Tommy Franks --- formed the basis for his most recent novel, RULES OF DECEPTION.
- RULES OF DECEPTION is the first of a new series featuring Dr. Jonathan Ransom, a world-class mountaineer and surgeon. In order to write the character accurately, Christopher trained in mountain climbing for a few months in California before trying the "real thing" in Zermatt, Switzerland.
- When he is not writing, Christopher enjoys spending time with his daughters, watching movies, running, and golfing.
- Christopher lives in Southern California with his wife and children.
