What did you think of PLEA OF INSANITY?
While I enjoyed the book, I must admit to being a bit disappointed reading about schizophrenia in the acknowledgements at the beginning. I felt like I knew where the story was leading before it even got started. Having said that, however, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, particularly how she went back and forth between her current case and her family.
Would you ever read a future book by Jilliane Hoffman?
Yes, I would. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Have you previously read a book by Jilliane Hoffman?
I have not, and am so excited that I have a new author to explore. PLEA OF INSANITY was my absolute favorite kind of book, a legal thriller with a psychological twist.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I knew you were going to ask that; I have the worst memory of anyone I know when it comes to the names of authors and titles of books. I have been guilty of checking the same book out twice from the library, not realizing until I got a few pages in that I'd already read it. This problem is helped along (in a good way --- really!) by Bookreporter, with the often-included excerpts of new books. Sometimes, if I read the flap or intro of a new book that looks appealing, and it sounds familiar, I don't really know if I've actually read it, or just the excerpt on Bookreporter. Now, I grant you, this is a quality problem, but I will tell you it is not because of my age. I had the same problem remembering book titles and authors that I read when I was younger as well. It's probably genetic.
Ok, that said, let's see. Michael Connelly is one of my very favorites, along with P. D. James, Martha Grimes, the psychologist author, Jonathan Kellerman, and his wife Faye Kellerman, who writes those great LA stories. I also love and adore Stephen King --- I have read all his books and short stories, except for the Dark Tower series, and I probably will get to those when my grandson is old enough to read them. I have enjoyed reading and watching Stephen King grow and change over the years, and I so admire him and all he has done. His wife, Tabitha King, is a wonderful author as well.
I love V. I. Warshawsky books, and also Sue Grafton. My mom was a big, big fan of Mary Roberts Reinhart (now what made me think of that?). J. D. Robbs's books rock. To tell you the truth, I really like many more than that, but you only need so much information, and I can't remember any more names. So, I think I'll end it with that.
What did you think of PLEA OF INSANITY?
It was terrific. The writing was awesome, and the plot kept me completely involved. I had one tiny issue with the main character, Julia. Maybe it's because of my age, but I don't think a smart attorney would [make some of the choices she did], putting her whole career in the balance. But, maybe that was necessary for plot development. The other tiny issue is Julia's examination of the prosecution's expert. It didn't play real, and I think that Rick would have jumped in and stopped it before it went too far. Actually, I think that it would have been interesting to get more insight into why Rick was the way he is, i.e., sleazebag. Maybe there will be more from these characters in a future book that will tell us more about the two main men in Julia's life, Rick and Lat.
Would you ever read a future book by Jilliane Hoffman?

Marguerite from Baldwin, NY
Have you previously read a book by Jilliane Hoffman?
No. This was the first book I have ever read from Ms. Hoffman.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Lately, I have been reading more historical fiction than anything else. Having said that, Mary Higgins Clark, John Grisham, Philippa Gregory and Dan Brown have topped my list.
What did you think of PLEA OF INSANITY?
Amazing book! From the very first page, I was unable to put the book down. The author keeps you riveted to each word and I found myself actually covering the opposite page with my hand so that I wouldn't "cheat" and look to see where the story was heading. It was absolutely suspenseful! There were so many twists and turns in this book that it was impossible to "predict" what the next chapter would bring. At times, I had to walk away from the book because the passage I had just read was either disturbing or heartwrenching. Only a great book from a talented author could do that to me.
Would you ever read a future book by Jilliane Hoffman?
Most definitely!
Nancy from Ocala, FL
Have you previously read a book by Jilliane Hoffman?
This is the first book I have read by J. Hoffman.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I have loved and read all of the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. I still find the Grisham's legal thrillers fantastic. I need more time to read!
What did you think of PLEA OF INSANITY?
I found PLEA OF INSANITY to be of great interest to me --- a story not told before. We have only lived in Florida for four years, so I found any reference to the state to seem “like home.”
Would you ever read a future book by Jilliane Hoffman?
I would definitely read another J. Hoffman book in the future.
Stacy from Eastlake, OH

Melissa from McKees Rocks, PA
Have you previously read a book by Jilliane Hoffman?
Yes, I've read all three of her books, RETRIBUTION, LAST WITNESS, and now PLEA OF INANITY.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Harlan Coben, Dennis Lehane, James Patterson (some of his past books, but not so much anymore), David Baldacci, Lisa Unger and Jeffery Deaver.
What did you think of PLEA OF INSANITY?
I really enjoyed this book, as it keep me intrigued throughout. I enjoy the reality of the legal system as well as the mental health issue; even the bit of romance was okay (as long as it's not over the top in suspense novels, I don't mind it). I'm not sure I was pleased with the ending --- I still felt like I was left hanging a bit, but that may be the point, right?
Would you ever read a future book by Jilliane Hoffman?
Definitely!
