What did you think of NO MERCY?
I loved it! From the first page, I was drawn into the story and the lives of the various characters. I was disappointed when the book ended --- I wanted more. Hopefully, in future books of this series, Mr. Gilstrap will divulge more background on his characters. He mentions only briefly "the divorce wars," Jonathan's father, and Venice and Dom's backgrounds.

Yes, can't wait!

Have you previously read a book by John Gilstrap?
No.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Jonathan Kellerman, Daniel Silva, Patricia Cornwell, John Sandford, Faye Kellerman, William Kent Krueger, John Grisham, and others.
What did you think of NO MERCY?
Great suspense, and a good story that moves well. However, the writing is not as good as Daniel Silva's or Jonathan Kellerman's. I thought the characterization was typical for many of the mass trade novels, and not as good as what's found in what is termed "mid-list" novels.
Would you ever read a future book by John Gilstrap?
Maybe. This book is what I call a "good airplane read." Gilstrap tells a good story.

Have you previously read a book by John Gilstrap?
I had not.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I am going to punt on this question: over the years I've read at least a thousand books in this genre and to list off a bunch of authors wouldn't be a lot of help to you and just come off as a vanity list. I will say that when I find a “new to me” established author, I generally read several if not all their books consecutively.
What did you think of NO MERCY?
I enjoyed the book. It had a tightly scripted plot and kept this reader engaged. To call it formulaic is not a slam, as escapist hyper-realism is par for the genre. The characters are likeably two-dimensional; I could envision this work as a graphic novel but oddly enough, not as a film. The author’s skills are evident, and there are a few playful asides sprinkled in that suggest he's having fun with the process.
Would you ever read a future book by John Gilstrap?
Absolutely.
