Heather Barbieri

QUESTIONS FROM READERS

Heather Barbieri answers readers' questions about the inspiration behind her characters, her own experiences sewing and making lace, and details about her next book.

Mary from Massapequa Park, NY: Have you ever made lace yourself? Your description of it was so vivid that I wondered if you had ever given it a try.

Heather Barbieri: Hi, Mary. I haven’t made lace myself, but I’ve watched demonstrations and have a longstanding interest in craftwork (embroidery, sewing, etc.).

Teresa from Hohenwald, TN: Have you known people like the ones in your stories? Have you lived in parts of your characters’ stories?

Heather Barbieri: Hi, Teresa. My characters speak to me strongly. I literally hear their voices as I write, but while I definitely connect with certain aspects of their experiences, they are very much their own people.

Sandra from Zephyr, TX: Do you still sew, even though you have a family and spend much of your time writing?

Heather Barbieri:
Hi, Sandra. Not as much as I’d like! I continue to have an interest in vintage fashions and fabric, particularly the dress silhouettes of the 1950s, as well as art deco jewelry.

Marlie from St. George, UT: When will your next book be out? What will it be about?

Heather Barbieri:
Hi, Marlie. I’m currently working on a new novel. It’s in that magical gestational phase, with a vivid setting and characters continuing to emerge. An update will appear on my website, www.heatherbarbieri.com, soon.
